Aluminium is lighter than steel, in fact, the IM2.5 offers a 30% weight reduction over a twin-tube steel shock absorber.
Additionally, the use of aircraft-grade 6061-T6 Aluminium in the IM2.5 offers improved cooling, which in turn means a shock absorber which can run harder, for longer, without diminishing its performance. Aluminium is known for its improved heat management, and has 4 times the thermal conductivity of steel.
The IM2.5 Monotube suspension series features a CNC ported billet aluminium piston with a O-Ring sealed PTFE-Teflon band. The precision channeling allows for ultimate tuning to soften the smallest of bumps in the road.
The billet aluminium Internal Floating Piston (IFP) features class-leading NOK seals and separates the high-pressure 200PSI nitrogen gas from the Fuchs hydraulic oil.
With a wall thickness ranging 3-4mm across the range, the IM2.5 monotube shock absorber tube is finished with ultra thick and durable Type 2 anodising, for ultimate protection. The monotube tech has also allowed us to mount the shock absorbers ‘upside down’ keeping the monotube body mounted high away from rocks and debris, and the 20mm hardened steel piston rod is downward yet protected by a robust dirtshield.
The single-wall construction and increased internal capacity has allowed for a massive 2.5" piston, with a 60% larger surface area than the, already large, IRONMAN 4X4 Foam Cell Pro product, allowing a greater level of tuning to achieve ultimate ride comfort.
Choosing comfort and performance doesn’t have to come at the cost of reliability.
The improved comfort tuning showcased within the IM2.5 has not compromised the overall performance and durability of this on- and off-road shock absorber. A huge amount of consideration has gone into each and every element, to ensure a robust and well-performing 4x4, off-road suspension solution.
